THE SNOW QUEEN is the winter project, very apt. A new musical written and directed by Nigel Fairs, music by Adam Rood, choreography by Elizabeth Ballinger and produced by yours truly. A dream team if I say so myself. Both performances will be on January 9th at Trinity Arts Centre so please block that off in your new diaries to come and support.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM was a huge success. Nearly 200 people came to see it at The Beacon. I was very proud of them all. We shall certainly be repeating the outdoor Shakespeare experience next year, probably with Macbeth, although that isn’t finally decided yet.
This term starts on September 5th at 2.00pm with newcomers arriving at 1.45pm at King Charles the Martyr Parish Hall. I’ve had some very enthusiastic phone calls and emails and am really looking forward to meeting our new students, hearing the music for the first time, watching our current fabulous members develop further and facilitating new and exciting talent.
I want to make our theatre trips a termly event rather than an annual one. I do have an idea or two for a Christmas outing, but would any student reading this come with their suggestions also and we’ll find the most convenient (and cheapest) option.
Anybody interested in joining SDC, browse through the website and you’ll find contact details, or simply e-mail us here and keep in mind that we have these two ‘taster’ sessions coming up on Sept. 5th and Sept 12th.
There is a very strong emphasis on team work, professional attitude and respect for each other and the craft. And we have a lot of laughs on the way!
Best wishes,
