The Three Lives of Princess CarabooThe Three Lives of Princess Caraboo

The teenage group at Tunbridge Wells performed a premiere musical called THE THREE LIVES OF PRINCESS CARABOO. Original music (Adam Rood) and script (Nigel Fairs). All very exciting. A true story of rags to riches and back again, a touch of Les Miserables about the concept.

Romeo & JulietRomeo & Juliet

The second show with SDC is Romeo and Juliet as never seen before. Much of it set to music by Adam Rood and choreography by Lizzie Youngson. Fight director Lewis Penfold has also worked with both groups. Louise Jameson (director) is thrilled with the progress so far, but, as always, wished for extra rehearsal time to perfect the talents of this extraordinary group of young adults. Their performances were on Sat 18th July and Sunday 19th July at The Beacon in Tea Garden Lane, Rusthall.

I got here first!I got here first!

The students from Louise Jameson’s Sunday Drama College presented their first public performance in January. I Got Here First! is a gripping, sometimes hilarious, sometimes moving tale of young people coming together and learning to survive on their own in a post-apocalyptic Tunbridge Wells! See the Trinity Arts Centre as you’ve never seen it before, and be inspired by the talent and commitment of the town’s younger generation. Anyone familiar with Mike Leigh’s work (Abigail’s Party, Secrets and Lies, Vera Drake) will know the comic and dramatic value of devising plays through improvisation and detailed character work. I got here first! is being created in exactly the same way, resulting in a performance unique to the cast and a brilliant showcase for the stars of the future. And you’ll see them first! Directed by Nigel Fairs (see tutors page).

August: Osage CountyAugust: Osage County
The group went to The Royal National Theatre to see August: Osage County. They will be studying stand up AND Shakespeare and looking to marry the two techniques in preparation for a new version of Romeo and Juliet in the summer. This will be the bard as you have never seen it before. A truly ensemble piece littered with music commissioned especially by Louise, composed by Adam Rood (see tutors page).

Actors TalksActors Talks

Later this year we hope to have a talk and Q & A session from the renowned actor, Stephanie Cole. Stephanie trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and like most actors of that time went on to consolidate her acting skills in repertory theatres around the United Kingdom. She is probably best known for her television roles in Coronation Street,Tenko, Waiting for God and Doc Martin.

“Congratulations to all you stars on your performances. You were brilliant…all in your own way… I cannot believe that this has been achieved within a term. You must be extremely talented.

If I were a critic I would be giving you 5 stars. Congratulations must go to Louise and Nigel too ,who without dedication, could not have realised your talent.

Anyway that is not to detract from your brilliant performances. I hope you all carry on in your own ways. I can’t wait to see Romeo and Juliet as I’m sure, with your talents, you’ll give it a new relevance. Once more I’d just like to say how brilliant you all were.

P.S. You are also so lucky to have people so talented and caring as Nigel and Louise to guide you.”
